The Satraps CollectionLast updated: 01/28/2023

The Satraps Collection consists of 5,000 unique collage-style art pieces that will live as NFTs on the Songbird, Flare, and Optimism networks. The Satraps will have 5 hierarchical classes – each class will possess unique powers and utilities.

Sub-collections:

The Satraps Collection

Has 5 sub-collections, beginning with The Senators which were launched on October 26th 2022 and includes 400 NFTs. The remaining 4 sub-collections will be released on Songbird and Flare during the year 2023 - 1 sub-collection per quarter each consisting of 1200 Satrap NFTs.

The Senators

hold the highest class among all Satraps and therefore have the highest voting power. The Senators can initiate voting sessions at the Satraps Court dapp, create parties, create relationships with other Senators and extend this power to Satraps of lower rank. Certain Personas have secret utilities and will be revealed with the release of next subcollections.

Free Claims

The Senator NFT holders are granted a free mint in all future Satraps sub-collections.

Ranks

Ranks, also referred to as class, indicate the hierarchical order of each Satrap.

The Satraps Court

The Satraps Court is a decentralized-app that hosts a number of utilities for the Satraps NFT holders.

Dashboard

Dashboard page will offer a summary of the passed sessions and decrees, number of votes, latest court sentiment levels, and ongoing voting sessions.

Court Lobby

Court Lobby will host two tabs - Lobby Floor, and Court Forum.

Lobby Floor

Lobby Floor is a discord-like chatroom where .satrap and .flr domain holders will be able to chat and discuss issues to vote on. Only the holders of .satrap and .flr domain holders will be able to participate in Lobby Floor.

Court Forum

Court Forum is where threads can be posted by domain holders, however the Satrap NFT holders have moderator powers.
The Satrap NFT holders will need to buy a .satrap or .flr domain to participate in the Lobby Floor and the Court Forum. The Senator NFT holders are eligible for a 1:1 free claim of a .satrap domain at id.satraps.io.

Voting Floor

Voting Floor will facilitate on-chain voting using NFTs. The Satrap NFTs will have certain voting power depending on their class and other attributes. Certain domain NFTs (ENS) such as .satrap and .flr domains will have voting power as well.
The Voting Floor can hold decree voting sessions and non-decree voting sessions. Decree voting sessions will result in the creation of a web3 decree which is a soulbound NFT and will live on the Satraps HQ wallet on Songbird. Decree-NFT copies can be issued from the soulbound NFT and sent to other wallets for various authentication reasons.
Non-decree votings can be used for making statements, dispute resolutions, general sentiment, appealing decrees, etc.

Sentiment Polls

Sentiment Polls will open monthly to measure the court sentiment on passed decrees. If sentiment polls produce low sentiment levels on a certain decree, then discussions can take place at the Court Lobby to mobilize Senators to initiate an appeal voting session.

Voting

Each Satrap holds a certain amount of base voting power depending on their class and other attributes. Satraps can cast their votes and make decrees.

The Senators enjoy the highest base voting power which equals to 50 votes per Senator.
The Immortals 20 votes
The 3rd Sub-collection 15 votes
The 4th Sub-collection 10 votes
The 5th Sub-collection 8 votes

ID and Domain

ID and Domain holders have the lowest voting power of 1 vote per ID/domain.

Decrees

Voting sessions will result in a decree in its relative category. All decrees are appealable with a class-majority vote and will trigger a new voting session. Decrees can serve as Web3 historical reference points for future products.

Satrap Attributes

Each Satrap NFT has at least three attributes. A Persona, which describes the character of the Satrap. A Locus, which describes the location of the Satrap. And a Class, which describes the hierarchical rank or class of the Satrap.

Web3 Identities

Cyber Identity

Cyber Identity is a dApp under development that will introduce the Web3 Identities Protocol to Songbird and Flare - a decentralized identity verification layer for web3 with privacy in mind. The Web3 Identities Protocol will use soulbound NFTs as proof of identity (POI) and issues customizable NFT copies that can be sent to dApps and entities on web3 for the purposes of KYC/AML.

The Satraps

The Satraps will vote and decide which metrics to be used for identity verification in Web3 Identities Protocol. A robust community-led identity verification protocol can create verifiable trust between Web3 businesses and their customers – effectively providing a dynamic KYC/AML protocol whose rules are set by the community instead of a centralized entity.

Sovereign Communities

Community Citizenship and Representation

Certain domain extensions (also known as ID extensions) on Songbird and Flare will be used as a token of community membership. All NFTs that have voting power at the Satraps Court will be able to delegate their votes to an ID name.
The supported IDs can represent one or more Satraps, it can also represent Satrap Parties at the Satraps Court and participate in voting sessions on behalf of their delegators.
In the situation where a new ID extension (e.g. .flr, .cybr, etc) is representing a Senator, then that ID is able to initiate voting sessions exclusive to their community - i.e. exclusive to all .flr holders. This ability allows communities to create exclusive ethics for their members, effectively democratizing ethics issuance for all communities at the Satraps Court.

Diagram demonstrates an example of ground-up web3 ethics governance.

Ethics Scoring System

ESS v2.0

Metric Description Points Category
Social media presence Presence and activity on social media 1 Excellence
Team members identification e.g. KYC/live session verification 3 Identification
Legal Entities disclosure of legal company, corporation, or other legally registered entity associated with the TSO 5 Identification
Stable coin depeg safety mechanism sourcing from USD or having a stable coin depeg scenario safety mechanism 5 Ethics
Consequentialism whistleblowing against bad actors in the space 3 Excellence/Ethics
Treasury wallet disclosure TSOs disclose their Treasury wallet privately to the Satraps 4 Ethics
Revenue allocation report Produce reports on revenue allocations 1 Ethics
Report on locked and spent SGB/FLR Produce timely reports on locked and spent SGB/FLR 1 Ethics

Metric Elaborations

1- Social media presence: Presence and activity on social media (reasonable effort to provide relevant updates to delegators) grants 1 excellence point.

2- Team members identification - e.g. KYC/live session verification - 3 score points. (Identification category)

3- The Magi Proposal - Legal Entities - disclosure of legal company, corporation, or other legally registered entity associated with the TSO - 5 total score points (Identification category)

Background: FTSO data providers each independently operate as a blockchain services provider (a business) critical to the data oracle built into the Flare Network and Songbird blockchains. Data providers solicit voting power from network participants known as "delegators" to sustain operations and for eligibility to submit pricing data. Data providers establish a configurable fee that they collect from each delegator's portion of earned rewards. In short, FTSO data providers market their services, enter into a convoluted relationship with delegators, perform a service, & collect a fee.

Elaboration: Blockchain and smart contracts should not be concepts used as a veil for businesses providing services to the public. Furthermore, delegators must be able to hold FTSO data providers accountable and have avenues for legal reproach should the situation warrant such action. Consequently, FTSO data providers and their operations should be backed by a legal company, corporation, or other legally registered entity, which must be publicly disclosed.

Score Points: If the FTSO data provider is verified as a legal entity, this will grant the data provider 5 ethics/identification points (5 Score Points.) Under this metric, Immortals are being granted the authority to reject, with cause, countries and/or jurisdictions for reasons of systemic corruption, insufficient legal systems, etc. In the event Immortals reject a country or jurisdiction, the rejected country or jurisdiction must be ratified by Senators via a simple majority vote.

4- Tandrum proposal - Stable coin depeg safety mechanism - 5 total score points (Ethics category)

Background: It is mandatory in the Flare documents to use real USD prices. A safety mechanism is needed in case of a stablecoin Depeg event. The TSO that use safety mechanism against false prices receives less rewards if not all big TSO use the same mechanism. There are many reasons why a data provider should use correct data. It's important for collateral, lending and liquidation services.

Elaboration: -Is on Social media or other platforms mentioning, about safety measures (1 excellence point) -If the TSO reaches out for help and is vocal about wanting to implement a depeg mechanism (1 extra excellence point) -5 ethics points if the TSO has a depeg mechanism in place and it works well in the next stablecoin depeg event.

5- Clavi proposal - Consequentialism - whistleblowing against bad actors in the space - 3 total score points (both excellence and ethics categories).

Elaboration: Whistleblowing maximizes the human benefit and minimizes the harm to the system. When tangible evidence is available against a certain project/TSO, that evidence should be provided to the Satraps Whistleblower Portal online form. Certain Senators will have access (other individual Satraps can be voted to gain access to the portal - e.g. certain Immortals or auditing committees.)

Score Points: (I) If the reported incident gains the attention of at least 20 Senators, the whistleblower will receive 1 excellence point. (if the whistleblower is anonymous, then an alias will be honored for them) (1 Score Point) (II) If the reported incident holds tangible evidence (e.g. on-chain data, other verifiable data), an auditing committee will be formed and the incident will be verified - this will grant 2 Pure Ethics and 1 Excellence points to the reporting entity (3 Score Points)

6- TSOs disclose their Treasury wallet privately to the Satraps - 4 total score points (regrouped and updated from ESS v1.0.)

Elaboration: The wallet in which the TSOs receive their rewards at the end of each epoch should be disclosed in an online form to the Satraps Chamber of Audit.

Score Points: (I) If satisfied alone, this metric will grant 1 excellence point to the TSO (1 Score Point) (II) This metric to the accompaniment of "Reports on revenue allocations" (ESS v1.0, metric #2) will grant the TSO 1 excellence point and 1 pure ethics point. (2pts) (III) If I and II are complemented by "Disclosure of TSO linked wallets" (ESS v1.0, metric #4) will grant the TSO with 2 excellence points and 2 pure ethics points. (4pts)

7- Produce reports on revenue allocations - 1 score point (regrouped from ESS v1.0.)

8- Produce timely reports on locked and spent SGB/FLR - 1 score point (regrouped from ESS v1.0.)
